To determine the structure of coordination compounds a number of physical methods are used, among which the most accurate is the method of X-ray analysis. However, in the case of presence of two or more metals in one monocrystal with a close atomic mass, the latter method does not always produce satisfactory results, so it is necessary to develop methods for the analysis of metals when they are simultaneously present. A method for the determination of iron and cobalt in complex compounds by atomic absorption spectrometry was elaborated. For sample decomposition was used a modified wet decomposition, which allow to accelerate sample decomposition. Optimal conditions of atomic absorption determination of metals were found, the linear interval of calibration curves was set (correlation coefficient not less than 0.995). Lack of matrix effects by acid decomposition of samples was shown using the addition method. The relative difference between the results obtained by the calibration curve and the results obtained by addition was 1.93 % for iron and 1.87 % for cobalt. Completeness of samples decomposition was evaluated by comparing with results obtained by dry decomposition of the samples. The relative difference between the results for iron was 3.24% and for cobalt - 2,95%. Metrological characteristics of methods were evaluated - the standard deviation, the detection limit, the characteristic concentration. It was shown that the proposed method allows determining the content of iron and cobalt in complex compounds with sufficient accuracy. This technique is characterized by rapidity, simplicity, reliability, and does not require a large amount of sample for analysis. The proposed methodology was used to determine the content of cobalt and iron in some coordination compounds.
