Sinteza literaturii in domeniu include date actuale privind caracteristicile fiziologice şi patobiologice ale uneia dintre cele mai importante molecule de semnalizare ale organismului – oxidul nitric (NO). Efectul citotoxic al NO se datorează capacităţii sale de a produce oxidantul puternic peroxinitrit (ONOO-) ca urmare a reacţionării cu radicalul superoxid. Capacitatea peroxinitritului de a schimba structura moleculelor se datorează in principal formării radicalilor liberi OH- şi NO+. In concentraţii mari, NO şi peroxinitritul induc moartea celulară prin apoptoză sau necroză. |

The cytotoxic effect of NO is due to its ability to produce a strong oxidant peroxynitrite (ONOO-) in reaction with the superoxide radical. The ability of peroxynitrite to change the structure of molecules is mainly due to the formation of OH</em><em>- </em><em>and NO</em><em>+ </em><em>free radicals. In high concentrations NO and peroxynitrite induces cell death by apoptosis or necrosis.</em></p></cfAbstr> <cfAbstr cfLangCode='RU' cfTrans='o'><p><em>Представленный литературный обзор включает в себя современные данные, относительно физиологических и патобиологических характеристик важнейшей сигнальной молекулы организма – оксида азота (NO). Цитотоксическое действие NO обусловлено его способностью производить, в реакции с супероксидным радикалом, пероксинитрит (ONOO-). Способность пероксинитрита изменять структуру молекул обусловлена, в основном, образованием в этих реакциях свободных радикалов OH- и NO+.
