Rezumat

This article proves the strength importance of the statistical methods in life-insurance domain, presenting the main tools in calculating insurance premium and insurance tariffs: commutation tables. These tables are directly influenced by several demographic factors and circumstances and have as basic components 2 types of tables and namely: mortality tables and discount factor.  In order to obtain detailed information about the mortality tables we have to consider such indicators as: the number of survivors at the certain age, the annual death rate, the probability of survival, the death probability, the average life expectancy. Speaking about the second factor of commutation tables, and namely discount factor we are take on account the investment to be done by an individual in order to obtain in specific time period a specific amount of money. As a result, the commutation tables are obtained by merging these 2 statistical components. Overall, this calculation is an complex process and has huge impact on insurance company revenue and activity.
