Some periods in the history of XX century in Ukrainian consciousness, especially relations with Romania in 1918-1920 and 1939-1941, have still been under the Soviet myths. For instance, there is widely known Soviet myth about so-called “Romanian aggression against Soviet state”. However, on the contrary, it was the Bolsheviks’ aggression against Romania. So, this myth had been created in order to hide real state of affairs. Unfortunately, this myth has still existed in Ukrainian historiography and historical consciousness. Although, logically, Ukraine should not inherit Soviet historical myths. Overcoming of Soviet myths is possible only through integration Ukrainian historiography into European area, especially by discussions with Romanian researchers and studying Ukrainians in Romanian Archives and Historic Museums, etc. |
