The notion of „supine” of the Romanian grammar being identifiable only residually, i.e. negatively (as a homonym of the participle or as something including it as a sequence, besides the participle itself and perfect forms), it can not be identified positively, because as „supines” are regarded 1) practonyms with purely substantival traits, 2) paraverbal (i.e. not having all the necessary traits either ot a noun or of a verb) prepositives, 3) secondary infinitives, i.e. purely verbal forms, 4) gerundives, i.e. post-verbal adjectives, members of inter-parts-of-speech paradigms, 5) necessitatives, i.e. verbal forms introduced by verbs of necessity, 6) confixally formed imperformative adjectives. However, this collection of purely outwardly similar formes is inconsequent even in the light of its own criterion, because it does not include the adverbial locutions, post-participial as well, such as pe apucate, pe nemâncate, cu târâita, cu nemiluita etc. |
