В статье исследуется развитие понятия «функции государства». Проведенным анализом установлено, что учение о функциях государства использовалось в общественных науках (в том числе правовой) прежде всего в советский период, начиная с 1950-х годов. Само учение базировалось на трудах немецких юристов XIX столетия, испытывая в дальнейшем влияние диалектического материализма и элементов системного подхода. Применение системного подхода позволило выделить основную функцию государства, корреспондирующую с его сущностью. С учетом изменения сущности и функций государства в современный период предлагается проводить дальнейшие исследования с использованием методов смежных общественных наук.

This article examines the definition of the term “functions of the State” in its evolution. During the analysis it was established that the theory of state functions has been used in Soviet social science (including Law) since the 1950s. This theory was based on the work of German jurists of the Nineteenth century. Later the theory modified under the influence of dialectical materialism and elements of the system approach. The systemic approach allowed us to single out in theory a clause about the main function that corresponds to the nature of the State. Because of the change in the nature and functions of the State in the modern era, it is proposed to research this problem using the methods of social sciences.

Articolul explorează dezvoltarea conceptului de "funcții de stat". Analiza arată că doctrina funcțiilor statului a fost folosită în științele sociale (inclusiv științele juridice), în primul rând în perioada sovietică, începând cu anii '50. Doctrina însăși sa bazat pe scrierile avocaților germani din secolul al XIX-lea, testarea în continuare a influenței materialismului dialectic și a elementelor abordării sistemice. Aplicarea abordării sistemice a permis identificarea funcției principale a statului, care corespunde esenței sale. Având în vedere schimbarea naturii și funcțiilor statului în perioada modernă, se propune efectuarea de cercetări ulterioare folosind metode de științe sociale adiacente.
