This article is part of an extensive study in literature on the representations of Chisinau. The used perspective and instrumentation are based on literary imagology, namely it’s studying the writers’ images, especially foreign ones, but also those belonging to the native community, to identify the cliché of perception, myths, literary tops, chronotopes, etc., which are related to the city of Chisinau and its inhabitants. The present text captures a segment of the Russian travelers literature that reflected Chisinau in the first half of the 19th century. The first perceptions and clichés have been highlighted by these writers who has generated them in the Russians’ imagination.
