Rezumat | |||||
Between 1960 and 1970 the puppet theatre from Moldova made an important step in exploring and revealing the essence of the puppet show as a specific form of theatrical art. These directional changes were conditioned, in our opinion, by two interdependent circumstances. In the 1960s, the process of forming new principles, methods and means of artistic solving that was unfolding in the Soviet art of puppetry and abroad was not being fully reflected in the Republican puppet theatre “Licurici”. This discrepancy was ripe for elimination. At the same time a new generation of well-trained artists emerged, who were able to take advantage of the new opportunities. The majority of performances of the period were signed by the painters-scenographers Vladimir Kantor, Galina Kantor-Molotov and Sulamita Cervinski, whose achievements determined to a great extent the plastic and creative image of the 1970s puppet theatre. These young artists did not have to free themselves from a burden of obsolete traditions. As beginners they were relieved of the complicated and, as practice shows, hardly successful, process of revisioning artistic positions. |
