Rezumat

The evolution of the political-military situation in recent years in Europe as well as in the international arena has been marked by a growing instability, characterized by crises, distrust and conflicting states between countries, with tendencies to resolve the armed disputes. The political transformations in the former Soviet-satellite states and its political end caused the emergence of several sovereign states in Eastern Europe. Finally yet importantly, their sovereignty had their cause in the force of attraction of the Euro-Atlantic understanding.  The current US administration has a policy towards Russia, but not for Europe, especially the Eastern. The current US conception of NATO enlargement to the East does not pose the issue of NATO enlargement, but the date on which it will be realized.  The geopolitical situation of all aspirants is favourable because all these countries have a common border with a NATO member state. An eventual NATO integration of any of these states would strengthen the Southeast European Alliance’s flank and raise a strong barrier to a possible neo-imperialist or Islamic-fundamentalist danger. The adhesion of new members in this region would not only strengthen the regional security, but it would defeat and forever eliminate the possibility of a conflict in this area.
