Convergence is the integration of engineering, physical sciences, computation, nanotechnologies and life sciences for the benefit of society. The need for convergence is caused by the multidisciplinary research efforts to be undertaken to identify solutions for the most stringent problems of the modern society related to health, environmental protection, safety and security of people. One of the most impressive international research efforts based on convergence was the humane genome project allowing one to determine the sequence of the human genome and identify the genes that it contains. Nowadays another project of paramount importance for human being is running, namely that focusing at investigation of brain. In this report, we will analyze the tendencies in the development of multidisciplinary research and bring examples of interpenetration of different scientific disciplines with especial accent on constructive interference between nanotechnologies and biomedicine. |
