(,,the generations which have experienced their old community, the establishment of a new border [...] may still keep the memories of the old com-munity as part of their territorial identity”.)

This research attempts to present the realities established at the Dniester border between 1918-1940. I appreciated this border from the human and imaginary perspectives. This region underwent major changes during the end of the First World War. The aggravation of political relations between Romania and the young Soviet state led to the suspension of any links between the two sides not only from the official point of view, but also from the everyday perspective. Residents were unable to communicate with their neighbors, often with their parents. Despite the passage of time, some kind of inertia of the memory of the old unitary community continued to exist. As Anssi Paasi mentioned in his article published in the volume Contested Territory. Border Disputes at the Edge of the Former Soviet Empire, Studies of Communism in Transition ,,the generations which have experienced their old community, the establishment of a new border [...] may still keep the memories of the old community as part of their territorial identity”.
