Folklore is a term, which, even at the level of common perception, defines the multitude of traditional manifestations, namely dance, music and verbal creations. Through folklore we designate a reality (the cultural heritage of the people), which has become a subject of study for researchers, but also a discipline (science about the people, knowledge of its cultural heritage). In today’s society, we designate the coexistence of traditional folklore with consumer folklore. Traditional folk acts are the messages of those who create them, addressed to themselves or members of the community equal to themselves. Their purpose is well defined by the whole of the traditional context in which they occur. Folk consumer goods have the status of replicas, of reproductions in the plastic arts. They address the entire national community. Those who reproduce them want to communicate an artistic message that can be received. There are many areas, in which folk life unfolds in its traditional forms. The traditional folk repertoire is almost everywhere, which, although not an active factor in the cultural life, it is in a latent state where it can be updated. With all these findings, showing the force of preserving tradition, the rural society becomes, like the urban one, a consumer society. It produces for the market and consumes from the market. Changes in the lifestyle are also reflected in the cultural aspect, influencing folk life. In terms of folklore consumption, the differences between rural and urban environments are gradually wiped out. The two forms, in which folklore exists today, are meant to go together.
