Subiectul prezentului studiu se axează pe analiza panoramică a lucrării lui Alexandru Boldur „Muzica în Basarabia. Schiţă istorică”, evidenţiind şi comentând trecutul muzical din stânga Prutului în perioada anilor 1812– 1940, observat de autor, dar insuficient cunoscut şi nemeritat eludat în preocupările cercetătorilor. Pe parcurs, sunt evaluate, precizate şi completate anumite date, informaţii cu caracter istoric, sunt detaliate elementele vieţii muzicale din provincie, înscrise în paginile studiului, precum şi componenta estetică a fenomenului muzical basarabean, văzut prin prisma evenimentelor, creaţiilor şi personalităţilor care au reprezentat-o. De asemenea, sunt detaliate şi decantate unele coordonate ale învăţământului artistic, ţinuta profesională a acestuia, care a contribuit la evoluţia muzicii basarabene pe o linie ascendentă. Deşi profunzimea abordării fenomenului artistico-sonor poartă, mai degrabă, amprenta unor pagini de istoriografie muzicală, subliniem faptul că lucrarea analizată reprezintă, în fond, esenţa unui studiu de documentare şi, în acelaşi timp, a unui instrument de cunoaştere a muzicii în spaţiul de referinţă, din care se intrevede sau întrevede? forţa acestei componente a vieţii spirituale în păstrarea identităţii culturale a locuitorilor dintre Prut şi Nistru, a celei etnice în primul rând. Semnificând apariţia unui studiu de consemnare şi promovare a manifestărilor muzicale, demersul lui A. Boldur denotă, în acelaşi timp, procesul iniţierii preocupărilor de cercetări istorice a muzicii din Moldova est-pruteană, pe fundalul afirmării ei în cultura naţională.

The subject of this study focuses on the panoramic analysis of Alexandru Boldur’s work ”Music in Bessarabia. Historical sketch”, highlighting and commenting on the musical past on the left bank of the Prut River in the period 1812–1940, noted by the author, but not well known and undeservedly avoided in the researchers’ concerns. In the course of time, certain specified and completed data, historical information, details of the musical life in the province are included on the pages of the study, as well as the aesthetic component of the Bessarabian musical phenomenon as seen through the events, the creations and the personalities that represented it. In addition, some coordinates of the artistic education, its professional attitude, have been detailed and decanted, which contributed to the evolution of Bassarabian music on an ascending line.  Although the depth of the approach of the artistic and musical phenomenon bears rather the mark of some pages of musical historiography, we emphasize that the analyzed work is in fact the essence of a documentary study and, at the same time, an instrument of getting to know the music in the referred space, from which the force of this component of the spiritual life in preserving the cultural identity of the inhabitants between the Prut and the Nistru, of the ethnic ones in the first place, is visualized. Signifying the appearance of a study for recording and promoting musical events, A. Boldur’s approach denotes, at the same time, the process of initiating historical researches of the music in Moldova to the East of the Prut, against the background of its affirmation in the national culture.
