After the independence declaration of the Republic of Moldova the issues of living standard of population and the poverty consequences were inadequately approached by authorities and were discreetly reflected in mass media channels. At the same time, different sociological studies organized in Moldova and abroad show a constant tendency of the decrease of people’s standard of living. The national press institutions don’t realize investigative and analytical materials, they don’t propose solutions to improve the social situation and to fight against poverty. The target of national audiovisual channels is to sell the media message and, to achieve this goal, they present the poverty phenomenon in a sensational way, as a part of radio and television show. The cases of violence, murder, suicide, traffic accidents with fatal consequences, resounding crimes, including the participation of minors, are shown in audiovisual news as a decoration of the entertainment show. In this situation, the spectacular element decreases the level of poverty issue in public opinion and presents it like a superficial news in brief.
