This article includes data analysis of pertussis cases in the Republic of Moldova for the period 1993-2013, the age structure of cases (total 4320 cases) and vaccination history of patients. Was analyzed immunization coverage to pertussis in children under two years of age and preschool children who received 3 and 4 doses of pertussis vaccine. Incidence of pertussis in Moldova in 1993-2013 has an overall downward trend, but over the last decade has seen a slight tendency to an increase in morbidity. The epidemic process saves it cyclic character, but with a gradual decrease morbidity and increase the cycle time. In periods of low pertussis morbidity it is concentrated in urban areas. Pertussis remains child infection, and most victims are children aged 0-2 years. However, there is a tendency to increase the proportion of adults suffering from whooping cough. Approximately two thirds of patients have not been vaccinated. It can be concluded that a full course of primary vaccination protects children of target contingents against pertussis. |
