A rising trend in the incidence and prevalence of IBD in some countries of Eastern Europe and Asia has been recognized for the past decades. It has been postulated that this phenomenon might be related to the westernization of lifestyles, including changes in dietary habits and environmental changes such as industrialization. We have analyzed the dynamics of epidemiological indices of IBD according to the data of the National Centre for Health Management of Ministry of Health in Republic of Moldova from 1998 to 2014. The Republic of Moldova is a region with an incidence and prevalence of IBD comparable with the data from other countries of Eastern Europe. Significant increases of the average country data was not registered from 1998 to 2014. However, the remarkable increase of IBD incidence in urban area was observed over 2010–2014 for the first time.. |
