The article touches upon the personality of Sergei Lazo, who entered the Soviet historiography as a hero of the civil war, and the need for the museumifi cation of the Lazo family’s home in the village of Piatra. After analyzing the archival documents, the diary and philosophical notes of Sergei Lazo, his correspondence with friends and family members, the author comes to the conclusion that this Bessarabian nobleman was an adept of the fundamental ideas of democracy, an anti-monarchist, a passionate fi ghter against social inequality, who fought incessantly for democratic freedoms. The house in the village of Piatra, where Sergei Lazo was born, has been preserved and was restored; it is an architectural monument of national signifi cance dating back to the 2nd half of the 19th century, and until the end of 2017 it should be museumifi ed. The author off ers the main idea, goals and thematic structure of the new exposition for the Country House of the Lazo Family at Piatra.

В статье затронуты вопросы о личности Сергея Лазо, который вошел в советскую историографию как герой гражданской войны, и о необходимости музеефикации дома семьи Лазо в селе Пятра. Проанализировав архивные документы, дневник и философские заметки Сергея Лазо, его переписку с друзьями и членами семьи, автор приходит к выводу, что этот потомок бессарабского дворянского рода был адептом фундаментальных идей демократии, антимонархистом, страстным борцом против социального неравенства, непрестанно сражавшимся за демократические свободы. Дом в селе Пятра, где родился Сергей Лазо, сохранился и был отреставрирован; он является памятником архитектуры национального значения, относящимся ко второй половине ХIХ века, и до конца 2017 года должен быть музеефицирован. Автор предлагает основную идею, цели и тематическую структуру новой экспозиции для Усадьбы семьи Лазо в селе Пятра.__
