<description xml:lang='en' descriptionType='Abstract'>Epidemiological and Economic Aspects of Shigellosis
This article reflects the epidemiological aspects of shigellosis in Moldova as well as its economic impacts during the year 2008. Shigellosis
accounted for 4.68% of all digestive infections in 2008, and the average cost of a single shigellosis case, comprising medical and social welfare
services, was 8037 lei. The cost of medical services, which was equal to 6992 lei, was determined by the specificity and dimension of the epidemic’s
outbreak, the severity of the disease and the proportion of the affected population. Social assistance allowance (indirect costs), which was equal
to 1045 lei, was determined primarily by the age of the affected population and the duration of the temporary incapacity to work, especially for
children aged 2-6 years, who required the care of a family member during the illness.</description>

В статье освещены эпидемиологические аспекты шигеллеза в Республике Молдова и экономические расчеты стоимости одного
случая заболевания в 2008 году. Доля шигеллезов в общей структуре кишечных инфекций составила в 2008 году 4,6%, а средняя
стоимость лечения одного больного, включая медицинские услуги и социальную помощь – 8037 лей. При этом стоимость медицинских
услуг (прямые затраты), равна 6992 лея, и определяется особенностями, размерами эпидемического очага (территориальные границы),
тяжестью заболевания и контингентом инфицированного населения. Ассигнование на социальную помощь (косвенные затраты)
связаны, в первую очередь, с возрастом инфицированных, длительностью периода нетрудоспособности и составляет в среднем 1045
лей. В первую очередь это касается организованных детей в возрасте 2-6 лет, требующих ухода со стороны членов семьи.</description>
