The variability of leaves of fluffy oak in the Republic of Moldova has been studied. It has been determined that features of leaves are characterized by medium and high level of variability in tree crown’s metameres and in populations. The revealed traits of variability provide the basis to conclude, that features of leaves cannot be used for identification of genotypes within the populations or oak species. The carried out researches have disclosed, that local populations of a fluffy oak show among themselves a high level of similarity to morphological characteristics of the leaf. Hence, at creation of oak woods cultures in appropriate places of growth, acorn ought to be used as a seed material irrespective of the place of origin of the parent plant growing in the southern part of the country.
