In order to develop the idea of „lifelong learning”, of reformation and modernization of the education appears the necessity to tackle several aspects that belong to the problem of information literacy of the personality and the role of the school and academic libraries in this process. In this article there is presented the experience of some institutions, referred to the formation of the specialist in the field of information literacy. Here are also reflected some points of view upon the situation and the perspectives of the development of this field in the educational institutions of the Republic of Moldova.
