Ion Teodorescu-Sion (1882, Ianca, Braila County - 1939, Bucharest), one of the major Romanian artists, had a special contribution to the saving of the School of Fine Arts in Chisinau. He had a close relationship with Bessarabia. He often came to Chisinau, always visiting the School of Belle Arte, which he valued much. He was interested in the progress of each talented student, held lectures about art, and offered students valuable advice. Thanks to his personal intervention, the School of Belle Arte in Chisinau received a ministerial annual grant, thus being able to function properly.
