Rezumat

In the summer of 2012 the NLRM published the catalog “Books from the library of the Count Alexandru Sturdza” held by the National Library, which represented a major event. Two hundred and three documents, particularly books, were transferred from Odessa University Library «I. Mecinikov» in 1971. Unfortunately, during the forty years their systematic description has not been done, and some of them have been labeled wrong. The authors of the catalog, Stephen Lupan, Doctor of philosophy, and Veronica Cosovan, a collaborator of the library, have made a list, according to the rules in force, of these books and their publishing data, which show the value of each document. All the books are written in foreign languages, most of them in French. The catalog has 88 pages, the list of books occupying pages 28-68. In the preface V. Cosovan insists on the necessity of highlighting the value of personal collections using chronological criterion too, just as other countries do. The article point out the value of literary units of certain geographical area (major cultural centers of Europe), the presence of famous masters’ engravings, manuscript notes, ex librises and names of owners, the rarity of some editions such as «History of Poland» by I. Dlugosz, and the regret that many documents of the count’s collection such as a book by Francesco Alunno (Bailo) remained in the library
