In 2015 we celebrate two centuries since the printing of the first book in Kishinev. This represents a good opportunity to gather together the info regarding the printings which are no longer outside The Republic of Moldova. There is an inventory of the books printed between 1815-1821, both in Kishinev and in Sankt Petersburg for Bessarabia. This inventory is still kept in a few institutions in Romania and it proves that many of the books mentioned in the older inventories do not exist anymore or they haven’t been in the on- line catalogues. As a consequence, conclusions can only be partial, because an extremely small percentage of Romanian libraries’ collections have printed or on-line catalogues. We can only state, for sure, that Romanian old books collections still hold many unknown copies.
