Rezumat

The Timisoara-born Cornel Ungureanu is one of the most important contemprorary Romanian literary critics and historians. He stands out as the author of an unconventional approach to literary history, typical of his originality in the context of the customary outlook. For this reason I have compared him with Michel Onfray, the unusual French philosphy historian who authored the 6 tomes – Counter History of Universal Philosophy. The first edition of Cornel Ungureanu’s book, A Secret History of the Romanian Literature, was published in 2007. In between, the author has published last year the second, revised edition, with Bucharest Tracus Arte Publishing House. The article contains an analysis of several aspects of the‚ literary geographies’ concept in the European and Romanian spaces and is free of political connotations. The older synchronistic obession of Romanian literary historians, looking towards the East or the West, is rebuilt by Cornel Ungureanu, beneficially and provocatively, as a ‚new literary history and geography’.
