Rezumat

The article examines Italy’s political interest towards the space of Ukraine in interwar period. Interest in the Ukrainian problem was manifested mainly by the government of Benito Mussolini, who saw Ukraine as an ally in the fight against Bolshevism, but also as a mean to reduce English political influence in the Black Sea region. Italian authorities had established connections and collaborated with Ukrainian nationalist organizations. Italy collaborated with Germany in this space, supported the occupation of Carpathian Ukraine by Hungary, but also had different views than authorities in Berlin. Consultations between diplomats Leibbrandt and Insanbato on the Ukrainian issue continued until 1940.
