Exchange rate evolution reflects the position of national economy in world economy and the competitiveness of national economy – viewed, inclusively, through the prism of quality of state economic policy. Knowledge of state’s monetary unit value towards the other state’s one, the factors which directly or indirectly influence exchange rate, is very important in international economical relations, as well as their effects over the economy. This article analyzes the situation on exchange market of the Republic of Moldova for 20002009 periods, the factors which caused the national currency appreciation and the effects over the economy in condition of financial and economical crises. Also, we have tried to forecast the evolution of Moldavian currency market in 2009. We have presented some measures which, from our point of view, need to be taken in order to endure the negative effects within national economy.
