Dreptul de autor, deşi este o instituţie juridică relativ tanără, are una dintre cele mai fructuoase evoluţii in ultimele două secole. Autorul examinează in mod detaliat etapele și aspectele principale ale apariției și dezvoltării istorice a dreptului de autor. Sunt abordate un șir de probleme cu care s-a confruntat instituția dreptului de autor pe parcursul anilor, in special, pe parcursul ultimelor trei decenii, cand harta politică a lumii s-a modificat considerabil şi multe state treptat au devenit independente şi s-au constituit ca state noi. Sunt trecute in revistă tratatele și convențiile internaționale incheiate in cadrul sistemului mondial de proprietate intelectuală, precum și cele mai importante decizii in acest sens.

The retrospective of the normative regulations regarding copyright and related rights. Although copyright is a relatively young legal institution, it has one of the most fruitful evolutions in the past two centuries. The author examines in a detailed way the stages and the most important aspects of the appearance and the historical evolution of copyright. There are addressed a couple of issues that copyright was facing throughout the years, especially, in the past three decades when the world political map was considerably modified and a lot of states became independent or there appeared some new states. There were mentioned the treaties and international conventions signed within the pale of the global system of intellectual property, as we as, the most important decision related to this.

Несмотря на то, что авторское право является относительно молодым правовым институтом, за последние два столетия его развитие происходило наиболее динамично и плодотворно. Автор подробно рассматривает этапы и ключевые исторические аспекты возникновения и развития авторского права. Затрагивается ряд вопросов, с которыми столкнулся институт авторского права на протяжении многих лет, в особенности, в течение последних трех десятилетий, когда политическая карта мира претерпела серьезные изменения, многие государства постепенно становились независимыми и образовались новые. Рассматриваются международные договоры и соглашения, заключенные в рамках мировой системы интеллектуальной собственности, а также наиболее важные решения в данной области.
