Rezumat

The socio-economic and political changes manifested in the new independent state Republic of Moldova led to the creation of new groups, social strata, new professional structures and modified the society structure in general. During the 25 years of economic freedom, the spheres of paramount importance from rural and urban areas, economics, ecology, culture, medicine, science, received at least once in five years concepts, strategies and development programs. These elaborated programs and strategies are mean to produce positive qualitative changes in people lives. The citizens of Moldova perceive the reforms in base of their capacity to provide access to daily consumer goods, their physical security and the security of their families, tranquillity and peace in relationships, health, the right to work, to rest, to education, to cultural goods. The identification with a certain social class is influenced both by the characteristics of a personal lifestyle and the general perception of social stratification. In Republic of Moldova is emerging a new social stratification, where about 2% of respondents self-identify with the social group/layer uppermost (the very rich who have everything they need, with unrestricted consumption) while 15% of subjects consider to belong to the poorest social group, 40% of respondents in the social group placed themselves closer to the middle. Analysing the quantitative indicators of perception of socio-economic changes by the citizens in correlation with their self-positioning in social groups, we find that the conditions of formation of the middle class is influenced primarily by economic factors, followed by social, political, cultural, professional and legal elements.
