The development of the international banking provided for many opportunities to the banks, but, at the same time, raised some problems, among which mention should be made of the enhancement of the fragility of the international financial system. In order to prevent and attenuate the negative effects of the banking crises with international impact, the Basel Committee was created alongside with the Bank of International Settlements. Among the achievements of the Basel Committee there is the establishment of some international capital standards for banks which operate at the international level. The Agreements settled in this purpose have created the premises for the improvement of the bank capitalization and for the creation of uniform competitive conditions
