Rezumat

The puropse of this study is to present and briefly describe a manuscript (held by the Library of the Romanian Academy) comprising important information relating the ecclesiastical history of Moldavia. The work, written between 18571860 by Andronic Popovici, the famous hieromonk of the Neamț Monastery, is, in fact, a prototype of a larger manuscript, elaborated by the same author in 1872, at the New Neamț Monastery. The text is composed of two parts, entitled, the first one The beginnings of Christianity and the religious hierarhy in Moldavia, and, the second one The names of the metropolitan bishops of Moldavia. Andronic organized his work chronologically, presented the metropolitans, pointing out some elements: the name of each person, the period of the pastorate and the most important events of their lives. Some inadvertences and errors we can observe in the manuscript are owned to the imprecision of some historical sources used by the author for documentation. Andronic consulted a wide range of sources: charters, deeds, hagiographical sources, diptychs, chronicles, manuscripts, as well as edited works, as he had free access to the library of the Neamț Monastery, before the devastating fire in 1862.
