Rezumat

To the history of studying of ancient monuments of Bessarabia (by the documents of the Imperial Society of history of antiquities of Odessa [ISHAO]). The interest to the “classic antiquity”, flared up in Russia of XVIII c. With the subjugation of the Northern coast of the Black Sea, for the first time was put onto scientific base after the foundation of the Imperial Society of history of antiquities of Odessa [ISHAO] (1839). It was first in its own way regional organization and in the course of eighty years it ensured close relations between people connected with antiquities — from occasional possessors to professional researchers. As a result finds from personal collections got into the field of vision of scientists and found their places on the pages of thirty volumes of Notes ISHAO. By the efforts of the society there was organized a scientific base of research of classic monuments in the south of the empire, while Odessa became the biggest center of Russian historical science. Documents of archives, that are being stored today in different countries show that in accordance to the tastes of XIX c., predilections of ISHAO were concentrated around the discoveries of ancient time. There are revealed 2 main zones of appearance of relics of ancient Greek and Roman civilizations: Low Dniester area with Akkerman (Tyra) and the lower reaches of Danube, island Zmeinyi inclusive. Materials of ISHAO, related to an ancient monuments of Bessarabia, hide the information that is compared with that that is still in the ground. In the concentrated from they contain the information not only about the finds of original things, but also about the intensive scientific activity of historic- archaeological intellectual circle of the whole South –West Russian empire of XIX — early XX c. The publication of the information from the archives is able to transmit a positive impulse to the modern collaboration for new searches and undertakings in the field of studying of monuments of the past.
