Rezumat

Anonymous Byzantine Follises of «B» Class and Pechenegs’ Invasion in Dobrogea in 1036. According to numismatic and archaeological data, during the Pechenegs’ invasion into the Byzantium’s domain in 1027-1036, Dobrogea’s and North Eastern Bulgarian lands were devastated in the last turn (map 2). As one can suppose, the nomads preferred to avoid the nearest to them but very well fortified region (map 1). The layers showing destruction on the monuments in Dobrogea and Ludogorie are dated by the Byzantine anonymous follises of A-2 and B classes. A very small number of the coins of the second group, however, shows that majority of Dobrogea’s fortresses ceased to be at the beginning stage of the coins’ spread. This allows dating the appearance of the follises of B class by 1034-1035. Despite of a short term of the Pechenegs’ presence on the right shore of the Danube (spring-autumn of 1036), a demographic vacuum appears on the internal territories of Dobrogea since that period. Permanent settlements are recorded again only since the beginning of XVI century.
