Rezumat

The purpose of this work was to study the ecological consequences of soil pollution by copper on the activity of soil autochthon microorganisms and to estimate the admissible level of concentration of this heavy metal in Moldovan soils. Irreversible inhibition of soil enzyme activity and respiration, degradation of total soil microbial biomass and of general soil biological activity were observed among the major negative consequences of soil pollution by copper. It was suggested that the admissible amount of technogenic copper in soil should not exceed 20 mg/kg provided the total copper concentration in soil is not higher than 50 mg/kg.
