The present scientific work is especially devoted to the concept of Word Power in the frame of the communication system. Making reference to the six functions of the language according to Roman Jakobson in « Essais de linguistique generale », 1963. I considered important to present and express the character of the following three functions: emotive function (which is referred to the addresser), conative function (which is focused on the addressee) and phatic function which maintains the contact between the interlocutors. Through these three functions that lay the basis of the communication between two or more interlocutors, a correlation of facts and emotions either positive or negative is realized. In essence the word is considered only as a tool of communication, a series of sounds produced by the vocal cords, associated with a sense which helps to form words, sentences, phrases, speeches as well as literary or scientific works, etc. The word suggests ideas, intensive emotions as well as hidden feelings. It is very important to know how and when the word can be used. A simple wish of “Good journey” said from all the heart to a traveler will give him the courage and power to overcome every negative emotion, to surpass every obstacle, being as a blessing, a protecting talisman. Or, sometimes a simple word pronounced rashly can remain as a damnation that will define you for all the life. The words are the way of our spirit manifestation. Some persons are the holders of a dead language, because when they are speaking these words have no power. Even when these words are pronounced in a loud voice, they don’t transmit anything. The words pronounced by us intend to express not only the truth, but also our understandings and realizations. The word can treat or kill, construct or destroy, but wesould not forget that we are namely those who carry the blessing or the damnation during our whole living….

Prezenta lucrare e deidacată în special conceptului de Putere a Cuvîntului în cadrul sistemului de comunicare. Facînd referinţă la cele şase funcţii ale limbajului după Roman Jakobson în « Essais de Iinguistique generale », 1963, am considerat important faptul de a ilucida şi reda caracterul celor trei funcţii ale sale emotivă, conativă (cea care se fixează asupra destinatarului) şi fatică (cea care menţine contactul dintre interlocutori) considerindu-le ca fiind cele mai importante in procesul de comunicare.
