Hermeneutics, as a theory of understanding and interpreting texts, has known, over the years, different applications that permitted to contribute to the evolution of thinking. During the XXIst century, it gives the opportunity to reactivate some branches of linguistics, by putting the focus on interpretation that, nevertheless, takes into account the intrinsic role of text. This renewed approach of hermeneutics and of its special aspects also helps to reach a better recognition of the contribution of translation, as a scientific matter linked to the interpretation of speech (even if it is often forgotten) and as a compulsory and necessary intermediary in order to give all its meaning to the original thought. Applying hermeneutics theory to texts also opens the way to a more precise understanding, especially regarding legal area.
