Rezumat

Ensuring an optimal educational context in a contemporary school is becoming an imperative of all existing social and economic transformations. Nowadays, the student does not have to be a simple receiver of the information, but a subject of the knowledge and action. In this context, the probability of obtaining valuable results by the students is conditioned by many factors, and among them is the listening factor that as a form of verbal communication is of utmost importance. Efficient and profitable listening for an interlocutor has to meet several prerequisites: to be active; total, empathetic, responsive, have critical thinking etc. Active listening optimizes communication when its purpose is to inform. Listening can be optimized by teachers through: structuring pedagogical situations; developing the pupils’ behaviors that facilitate the listening; using multiple types of listening in conjunction with the educational objectives pursued, with the contents’ features that are transmitted to pupils, and not least with the peculiarities of their age. Listening, as an important factor in training, is a key element, and a complex, specific activity with certain outcomes.
