The article shows the results of the ethnic identity research held among the young people of different ethnic origins – Moldovans, Russians, Gagauz, Ukrainians and Bulgarians. All the minority ethnic groups have positive self-identification and bi-ethnicity with the group of Russians. The common semantic area for all the ethnic groups in this study are the qualities of sociality, activeness and self-esteem. On the „collectivism – individualism” continuum the most collectivist groups are Bulgarians and Gagauz. Another comparative empiric research on the symbolic sphere and ideas about the country demonstrated respondents’ insufficient knowledge of the subject – an evidence of continuous formation of the construct of the country. |
