The article analyzes early fetal-neonatal death indicators in 2014 compared to 2013 using the Babies matrix integrated in medical statistics form – Annex 5 to the “On babies born and deceased aged up to one year” report. The analysis is done based on all three levels of perinatal centers, referral areas of level II perinatal centers and at national level. There has been noted a reduction in perinatal mortality in republic in 2014 compared to 2013, such dynamics is observed in the majority of II level perinatal centers, as well as in regions or their referral areas. The analysis has revealed three major issues: quality of care provided during pregnancy – antenatal period, quality of care provided to newborns – early neonatal period and delivery of very low birth weight (VLBW) babies in I level maternities, where there are no adequate conditions of care of these babies, as well as no pre-transport stabilization. Tangible recommendations are being proposed to solve existing problems.
