In the present paper, the similarities between ideas expressed in C. Stere’s and R. Ionescu- Rion’s articles, in their effort to promote and advance the concept of art with social tendencies, which they carried on in the Evenimentul literar journal (1893-1894), are researched. The investigation of similitudes and connections between the two authors’ aesthetic ideas and topics highlights the fact that the aspects which they treat have a common purpose – disavowing pure art and, at the same time, promoting the social principle in art. In Stere’s case, these tribulations become similar with his effort in promoting people-ism.
