Research is devoted to the study of the phenomenon of the social capital as an economic phenomenon. The author’s definition of the social capital is given, the sources of its formation are investigated, the approaches to the formation mechanisms of the potential of the social capital at different levels of the national economy are developed, a set of the social capital produced by the direct and indirect effects is investigated.
