Vsevolod Ciornei is a sentimentalist which is hiding behind the mask of irony. He relies on the textual game, on the states of melancholy, playful and virtual exhibitionist impulses. His poetries, clustered in three plaquettes are intimate, ironic or sarcastic, polemic and full of verve. The poetic picture of the world in its sacred or profane elements takes protean forms. The buffoonery as a moderate form of reaction to the ancestors’ poetry marks the beginning of the transition from modernism to postmodernism. The categorically difference between him and the ’70s and ‘80s Bessarabian writers is the self-irony that gives an increase of authenticity to the poetic ego. The discourse of the poet takes heterogeneous forms, displaying a “Harlequin destiny” not only in biography but in auto fiction too.
