This article takes under discussion Alexei Marinat’s work, a Bessarabian Solzhenitsyn, in terms of biography and fiction. The emphasis is placed on the characteristics of the writer’s method of creation, on the documentary prose and stories inspired by the hell of GULAG. The transfigurations of the raw fact into the fact of creation are relevant, insisting on the atrocities of the totalitarian regime, on the tragedy of some human destinies, on exasperating cases and situations, on the limits of manifestation of „the human from inside the human”.
