The overwhelming development of the media and all its related components involves
the necessity for an analysis of the myths and mechanisms of the western
democracy, especially the manner in which the media shapes the public opinion in
a system marked by a constantly rising discrepancy between the legal framework
and the effective distribution of the power resources. The following article reveals
an important and unusual direction for approaching the contemporary media
phenomenon, illustrated by theoretical postulates of Noam Chomsky and his disciples.
Here are presented the premises for the apparition of the „critic vision” and
its particularities in regard to the media activity, including the explanation of
the „propaganda model”. Generally the article highlights the characteristics of the
political communication in the contemporary world. |
