The article analyzes „country - society – state” triad, which is seen as an expression of a crisis in post-Soviet space, as an expression of the need to address sociopolitical realities in the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine in the context of their 20 years of independence. The article approaches some fundamental concepts (e.g. kratology, country, society, state, independence, civil society etc.), which allow us to characterize more deeply some similar phenomena and processes in these two neighboring countries. Particular attention is drawn to the need of Europeanization and deepening of the democratic reforms from the perspective of European integration of the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine.
