Rezumat

Unlike Romanian and Russian, the English language is very rich in business-related terminological idioms which are recognized and frequently used in mass media, fiction and didactic literature in both Great Britain and the United States of America. The aim of the article is to present the problem of equivalence in the target language and to analyze the translation strategies which are used while dealing with idioms. The translator must be focused on conveying the emotional, stylistic and functional information of the original idiom. Scholars generally distinguish the following translation strategies: completely preserving the meaning, expressivity and form of the original idiom, partly preserving them, changing the expressivity of the original idiom, and completely eliminating the expressivity of the original idiom.
