In 1822 Dimitrie Cantemir with Tsar Peter I participated in the campaign to Persia. A large number of ships departed from Astrakhan on the Caspian Sea, but they got in a storm, many ships were damaged or destroyed, including the ship “St. Alexander”, which Dimitrie Cantemir was on. In the article, is put into question whether during the storm have been destroyed or disappeared some valuable manuscripts of the former ruler Dmitrie Cantemir. Because these manuscripts have not been discovered so far, it is assumed
that they had been destroyed or kept under other names, which is why they have not been found yet. |
