This text was written in 2001 and published in French in one of the cultural journals in Paris. First it appeared in Romanian. The French journalist Jean-Yves Conrad describes his meeting in Paris with a number of scholars from Moldova and the time of his stay in Chişinău. This writing is important for the imagological study, because it presents the impressions and reflections of a person with another culture about the people of Moldova, the Romanian culture and about our country in the first period after the declaration of independence.
