mplementation of the project When Sweden was ruled from Moldova is considered highly significant museum event of 2013. It is an international scientific cultural project having several thematic components, geographical landmarks and stages of implementation.
The project is dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the event known as “Kalabalyk at Varnita” and the stay of Swedish King Charles XII at Bender and Varnita in 1709-1713. It aims to preserve the historical memory and promote the historical and cultural heritage that reflects a common segment of the Moldavian-Swedish history and is associated with the name of Swedish King Charles XII, as well as to deepen the collaboration between Swedish, Turkish and Moldavian researchers. Opening of the activities on the project took place in Chisinau, in the Blue Room of the National Museum of History
of Moldova. The first stage of the project was held in Chisinau and Varnita from 1 to 2 February 2013; it consisted of the opening ceremony, presentation of the thematic exhibition, and the international scientific conference. The next stages will take place in Istanbul and Stockholm. The event was organized by the Royal Armory (Stockholm), Embassy of Sweden in the Republic of Moldova, National Museum of History of Moldova, and Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Sweden. |
