In this article the author returns to the red terror and anti-Soviet resistance in postwar Moldova. The numerous judiciary processes set up by soviet authorities against the participants and supporters of anti-Soviet and anticommunist resistance are in focus. The essence of Soviet justice came out to light during the lawsuits, along the cruelty and lack of humanity with regard to the opponents of the regime. Victims of unfair lawsuits turned up to hundreds and thousands of men who dared to go against the political terror and economical exploitation promoted by communist party and Soviet power on occupied territory of Bessarabia. All leaders and active members of the anti-Soviet organizations operating in the first postwar years were convicted under the accusation of “treason” to either
death or 25 years of prison. The drastic measures applied to the participants of anti-Soviet and anticommunist resistance were aimed, besides physical and moral destruction, at disseminating fear amongst local population and making them more loyal to the Soviet regime also. |
