Rezumat

It is obvious that, today, the severity of the environmental problematic is still on the agenda in spite of intensive efforts at local, regional and international levels. Therefore, it goes without saying that nature protection is a must. At the European level, the European Union has, for many years, legislated on environmental matters; and compliance with European environmental law is regulated by the European Commission, with disputes being referable to the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg. The developing countries that strive to be admitted in the European Union are currently carrying on programs and strategies that enable them to adjust their legislations to the European acquis communautaire. This article evaluates the subject of European integration taking into consideration recent developments in the environmental field, whilst presenting some scientific details and discussions. Environmental law is also considered not only in the sense of sector-based environmental legislation but in a general conceptual framework common for Republic of Moldova and based on theoretical as well as practical aspects.
